Blackjack Basic Strategy
Basic strategy is a chart of mathematically preferred decisions for a given rule set. Use it while practicing free blackjack with play chips — not as advice for real-money gambling (which we do not offer).
Starter tips
- Stand on hard 17 or higher in most common situations.
- Hit hard totals of 8 or less.
- Be careful doubling into a strong dealer upcard.
- Split aces and eights in many standard charts (confirm your table rules).
- Treat insurance as a separate wager with a high edge against you.
